Colonial Cleaners is a family-owned
business run by Peter and Debra Hayes. Debra is from Fairfield County and
grew up around the business with her father and mother owning dry cleaners
in Wilton and Georgetown. For many years, Peter worked in the postal
service for the town of Greenwich while Debra worked in marketing in the
corporate world. Liking the independence of working for ourselves, we
joined forces in 1982 opening our first dry cleaning business in
Ridgefield, Connecticut. We chose Ridgefield for its beauty, community
spirit and good public schools.
Today Colonial Cleaners has grown
considerably. It has expanded from its original 1400 sq. ft space to a
6400 sq. ft facility in historic downtown Ridgefield. We have over 20
full-time employees, including on-staff tailors, ready to serve you.
Located in what was once a livery stable, our sparkling new, renovated
building and store front houses the best state-of-the-art equipment in the
business. We also proudly participate in a national environmental program
called "Envirosafe," designed to greatly reduce the need for
dry cleaning solvents and to promote recycling practices.
We love Ridgefield: as a home for our
children, as a community that keeps us engaged, and as a place to grow and
serve our customers.
Stop by and visit us. Thank you for your
patronage.
